Omega Networks: Bridging the health care gap for those recently released from jail

NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A new health clinic in Burlington County is working to bridge the health care gap for people recently released from jail.

Omega Networks co-founder Dr. Hemanth Rao says one of the core issues people reentering society face is a lack of essential care. That’s why they offer primary care, preventative care, mental health, substance abuse, and support services.

Rao says the positive impact of this work extends well beyond those directly receiving care.

“When health care needs are met for people exiting correctional facilities trying to reenter society, violent crime drops by 28 to 30 percent in these areas,” he said.

Rao says they are working on expanding their network of providers beyond the one location in Medford to serve more people throughout the state.
